to think for the neighbor who lives below james holmes in that apartment. some of my colleagues spoke with the person who lives right below him and said at some point, the night before, all of that loud music, that she had actually gone in there and opened up the door. so imagine just how much worse this could have been had that happened. those authorities have been nearly 36 hours cleaning out that apartment. >> just think if the suspect had made some sort of miss take when he was having the stuff delivered and putting it together. and large, i mean large volumes of delivers we were told by law enforcement over the last couple of months, ed. why? >> and this is one of the things that the police chief talked about. they shared a little bit of this yesterday. the work that had been done over the last few months. we learned from law enforcement officials, that the guns were purchased in several area gun stores here in the denver area. during the last three months, there was a great deal of ammunition. some say 6,000 rounds that james holmes purchased a and had delivered to him. they say

they definitely feel like the most troubling aspects and the most troubling devices they found in james holmes' apartment have been diffused and they want to remove those devices and take them to secure locations so if there need to be other det nations and taken apart and dismantled they can do that in more secure environments instead of this apartment. now what happens is the collection of evidence. authorities here want to go through his belongings and his computers and that sort of thing trying to find any kind of evidence that would help him explain how he prepared and what led to this massacre in aurora, colorado, so all of that work continues. we're seeing the local firefighters that were here starting to clean up the hoses that were brought in as a precaution, but all of the investigators and bomb technicians are still here. they say there still is several more hours of work to do inside that apartment and the material that they want to get out. they also want to begin assessing just exactly what james holmes put in there. they weren't exactly sure what kind of materials he had been us

.... before the government called james holmes a 'killer'.....he was labeled a genius...and the government showered him with cash. in fact, the doctoral student was bankrolling 26-thousand dollars a year in government gr. grants. where did the money come from for james holmes to purchase a small arsenal? in the months leading up to the massacare -- police say holmes' stockpiled six-thousand rounds of ammunition, an ar-15 assault rifle, a remington 870 shotgun, a 40 caliber glock handgun, a knife, and protective clothing. not too mention the bombs there's no record of holmes workkng since he dropped out of a prestigious neuroscience program at the university of colorado at denver in june. academically brilliant, holmes was only one of six predoctoral students to receive a 21-thousand 600 dollar a year grant. his only known source of income. money for those "t-32 grants" comes from the national institutes of health. some people now suggest that the n- i-h was the unwitting underwriter of holmes' weapons of death, but we do not know if that is how holmes' spent the money. a spokes

colleagues have spoken to the woman that lives just below james holmes and is obviously one of the people that had been evacuated. she explained to us the night of the shooting that there was loud music emerging from james holmes apartment and that she had gone up there to knock on the door and at one point had called authorities to let them know about that, but they said they were too busy with the shooting and they couldn't spare someone to come over here and do that, but she said the door was unlocked and told us the door was unlocked. obviously, she's very emotional about the fact she easily could have opened up that door and who knows what would have happened if she had done that. so luckily, for her, she decided not to do that and went back downstairs, but a lot of this area remains cordoned off and remains shut down. at one point, it would allow authorities to come back and james holmes' apartment, that will be shut down for quite some time and i'm not sure whether the surrounding areas will be opened up here in the coming days. obviously, the people whoive around this area are pro
